We have developed a low-cost, geopolymer insulating material with exceptional thermal and physical properties which can be easily sprayed on-site as a liquid ceramic to existing furnaces/thermal process units or can be incorporated in the design and construction of new furnaces/thermal process units. We call this range of geopolymer insulating products 'PX'.
In January 2018, BlueStem, in collaboration with Geopolymer Tech Sdn. Bhd. (a daughter company of the BlueStem Group) developed the world's first ‘liquid-ceramic’ geopolymer insulating spray which can be directly applied to wall and ceiling surfaces, injected into voids or used to make insulating boards.
PX insulation products are a suite of:
easily sprayable liquid that is
low-cost,
high-temperature (-100 to 1,100°C) resistant and
non-flammable.
Other insulation products (such as, rock wool, ceramic fibres, perlite boards and organic polymer foams) may be easily deployable, low-cost, high-temperature or non-flammable, but not all four, but PX is.
PX insulation products have the following performance metrics:
PX can be deployed in residential settings to reduce heating and cooling costs by 10-15%.
PX can also be deployed in industrial settings to reduce the heating costs of high-temperature industrial processes by 20-50%.
When deployed onto thermal process units, PX can also reduce industrial heating/cooling times by 50%.
Some recent research work is shown here.
A presentation related to PX is shown here.
A video demonstration is presented below:
BlueStem in collaboration with Geopolymer Tech Sdn. Bhd., is currently in the process of rolling-out the PX range of insulation products to thermal process companies in Malaysia and and the greater ASEAN region. PX can be sprayed directly onto surfaces as a liquid-ceramic foam. This foam cures rapidly to produce a strong, insulating layer.
The picture below shows two furnaces before and after PX liquid ceramic application.
